How close is Turkey to Syria diplomatically?

Syrians are killing more people than Israelis did at the flotilla incident last year. Only a handful of violent trouble makers died then, and the Turks made a huge spat over what happened. Now over 1000 innocent people have been murdered by Assad's security forces. What is Erdogan doing about it?
