Getting an old motorcycle registered for the road.?

so my father has this old honda. i don't kno the actual model just that its like a dirt bike for the street. He used to use back in the day and to be honest he never got a icense plate for it or anything. So now that i am older and have my motorcycle permit it would be a great bike to learn on. But how do i go about getting it legalized and checked out so it will be street legal
