Just starting out, what motorcycle to get?

I'm twenty years old , and am getting my motorcycle license in July. I want to get something that's comfortable, yet sports looking, and I'm not sure where to even start looking. My boyfriend has a Suzuki gsxr, but I'm not sure I want something that sporty. Any suggestions ?
